Donati S.p.A. has been active across Italy for over 35 years. At the outset, its core business was that of carrying out infrastructure work for the city of Rome. Over time, it extended its geographical reach to the whole of Italy and broadened its sector coverage to include new build work and the restoration of existing buildings, predominantly heritage ones.
Through the public tendering system it achieved the following heritage work. For the city or Rome, it consolidated and restored the Senatorial Palace (Palazzo Senatorio) the Tabularium and the Veiove Temple (Tabularium e Tempio di Veiove), as well as carrying out extra-ordinary maintenance work on the buildings of the Capitol (Colle Capitolino) and Piazza Montecitorio. In Turin, it restored part of the Carignano Palace (Palazzo Carignano) and in Asti, on behalf of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the Environment, it restored the S. Anna monastery (complesso demaniale di S. Anna ad Asti) which was then used as the new headquarters for the State Archives. In Milan, it undertook structural and fresco conservation work on the S. Maria Assunta in Certosa di Garegnano church; in Florence it did the same for the Porta Romana art Institute (Istituto d’arte di Porta Romana) and in Gaeta it carried out structural adjustment work on the former convent of Saint Catherine which was turned into a military police academy (Scuola Nautica per la G.d.F. a Gaeta).
Donati S.p.A. holds NOS security clearance, which enabled it to carry out work on maximum security buildings such as the Stella Polare barracks (Caserma Stella Polare della G.d.F.) in Ostia, the Sani barracks (Caserma Sani della G.d.F.) in Trento for the Guardia di Finanza, the Information Point (Centro di Accoglienza ed Informazione Parlamentare) and the Parliamentary Groups chamber (l’Aula dei Gruppi Parlamentari) for the Chamber of Deputies; as well as the juvenile court (Uffici Giudiziari Minorili) in Milan.
After the terrible earthquake which struck the Abruzzo region in 2009, Donati S.p.A. focused much of its activity on the reconstruction work in l’Aquila city. First, it designed and built 12 residential buildings on top of seismic proof plates (Progetto C.A.S.E. per la Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri – Dipartimento della Protezione Civile) which were to house families displaced by the earthquake. It then turned its focus to restoration work and thanks to the experience garnered during the reconstruction of the Noto cathedral (Cattedrale di Noto), which had been destroyed by a similar seismic event, it reconstructed the San Bernardino Basilica (Basilica di San Bernardino) that has recently been reopened to the public in all its splendor. Further restoration and seismic improvement work has been done on the Signorini-Corsi consortium (Aggregato Signorini-Corsi), Rivera castle (Castello Rivera) and its hamlet (Borgo).
